At the "Turon" metro station, located on the overground circular line of the Tashkent metro, a part of the ceiling structure shifted and fell. As a result of the incident, two passengers sustained minor injuries. This was reported by "Tashkent Metro".
According to the report, today, July 16, at 14:34, a part of the ceiling structure shifted at the "Turon" station. To ensure passenger safety, train movement through this station was immediately and temporarily suspended.
Currently, specialists are conducting technical investigations to determine the causes of the incident.
It was noted that as a result of the event, two passengers sustained minor injuries. They received first aid at the scene of the incident.
To provide convenience for passengers, free metro bus services have been organized between the "Qipchoq" and "Quruvchilar" metro stations.
Notably, problems related to construction quality on this route have been observed before. In particular, in June 2025, during inspections conducted by the Transport Prosecutor's Office on the "Technopark" – "Qipchoq" section, a number of construction deficiencies were identified, and instructions were given to eliminate them. At that time, rails and sleepers in certain sections were completely dismantled and re-laid.
For information, the "Turon" metro station was put into operation on March 11, 2024, as part of the "Quruvchilar" – "Qipchoq" section.
In the project, the joint-stock company "O'zbekiston temir yo'llar" acted as the customer, and the joint-stock company "Ko'prikqurilish" acted as the general contractor. Although the specific construction cost of the station has not been disclosed, the total cost of the overground circular metro line project amounted to 354.36 million US dollars.
