The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has reported that it carried out airstrikes against Iranian territory for the seventh consecutive night, after President Donald Trump announced that the temporary ceasefire agreement had ceased to be in effect.
According to CENTCOM, the strikes targeted observation posts, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage facilities, and naval military capabilities. The operation involved fighter jets, unmanned aerial vehicles, warships, and other assets. The US military stated that the operation concluded at 21:30 local time.
Meanwhile, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that two oil tankers passing through a sea lane mined in the Strait of Hormuz exploded and caught fire. However, CENTCOM denied this information, calling it an "unsubstantiated claim."
Iranian state media reported that sounds of explosions were heard near the city of Yazd, Qeshm Island, and around the port of Bandar Abbas, located near the Strait of Hormuz.
Jordan's armed forces stated that 10 Iranian missiles fired into the country's airspace in a single night were destroyed. According to official data, no casualties or damage were observed as a result of the incident.
Earlier, Iran had announced that it had struck US military targets in Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, and, for the first time, Syria. Washington denied these claims.
Kuwaiti officials reported that several military personnel were injured as a result of Iranian drone attacks, and a power station and desalination plants were damaged.
According to CBS News sources, several American military personnel were injured in attacks on two US military bases in Jordan over the past week.
Furthermore, Washington denied Iran's statements that civilian infrastructure, such as bridges, a railway station, and an airport, had been targeted as a result of US strikes. The administration of Hormozgan province, however, reported that seven people had been killed as a result of the attacks.
According to an investigation by BBC Verify and BBC Persian, damage to the Gariveh bridge in Hormozgan province was confirmed. Photographs taken during the day show that part of the bridge had collapsed and the road was destroyed.
A White House official, in a statement to the BBC, emphasized that the US "only struck military targets, including military logistics infrastructure."
