President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Karankevich on July 20. This was reported by the press service of the President.
The meeting discussed issues of further expanding strategic partnership relations between Uzbekistan and Belarus.
It was noted that Shavkat Mirziyoyev's official visit to Minsk, the capital of Belarus, on July 8–9 of this year yielded important results, particularly in the trade and economic sphere.
The parties emphasized the importance of timely fulfilling agreements to increase the volume of mutual trade to $2 billion, as well as implementing cooperation projects in priority sectors of the economy.
The meeting paid special attention to the issue of using Belarusian experience in building the first nuclear power plant and related infrastructure in Uzbekistan.
Discussions also covered expert support for the design, construction, and operation processes of the future nuclear power plant, training national personnel for the nuclear energy sector, and establishing joint educational programs between relevant higher education institutions.
At the beginning of the meeting, Viktor Karankevich conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes from Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
