The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Belarus, Rakhmattulla Nazarov, has been dismissed from his position for not paying sufficient attention to investment and foreign trade issues. This was announced today, July 21, during a videoconference meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
At the meeting, it was noted that in recent years, agreements have been reached on 1,617 investment projects worth $213 billion within the framework of 52 high-level visits. However, shortcomings in monitoring the implementation of these projects were criticized.
It has now been established that the "road maps" for investment projects will be handled by the Audit Chamber and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Prime Minister has been tasked with holding weekly discussions of the "road maps" on a per-project basis across countries, with the participation of sector heads, governors, and ambassadors.
Additionally, the activities of diplomatic missions abroad were assessed critically. It was stated that the ambassador to Belarus was dismissed for his indifference to investment and foreign trade issues.
It was also noted that the activities of ambassadors in France, Austria, Spain, Italy, Oman, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore are not sufficiently visible.
The head of the Presidential Administration, Saida Mirziyoyeva, has been tasked with forming a commission to analyze the activities of diplomatic missions in the areas of economic diplomacy, investment, and exports.
The commission must submit proposals to replace diplomatic personnel who are not fulfilling their duties with young and modern-thinking cadres.
