In Tashkent, a person who demanded $360,000 from an entrepreneur and had previously been convicted of fraud was caught while receiving $30,000.
Employees of the State Security Service’s Directorate for Tashkent City, in cooperation with the capital’s Main Internal Affairs Directorate and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes, conducted an operational measure.
During the operation, a person born in 1977, previously convicted of fraud, was caught red-handed while receiving $30,000 from a local entrepreneur.
It was determined that the entrepreneur planned to build non-state general education and preschool educational institutions on a 37-arce land plot in the Chilanzar district.
Having learned of this, the suspect demanded $360,000 from the entrepreneur for personal enrichment. He threatened to disrupt the construction processes through local residents and various organizations. He also pretended to be carrying out construction work and demanded money in exchange for "pacifying" citizens.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident.
