The new highway on the Tashkent–Samarkand route is expected to bring economic activity in the regions to a new level. According to World Bank analysis, every dollar invested in such projects can return up to five times to the economy.
The new motorway will boost the gross regional product of Tashkent city, Syrdarya, Jizzakh, and Samarkand regions by 3 percent. In the 13 districts through which the road passes, home to a total of over 2 million people, thousands of jobs and new sources of income will emerge.
Along the motorway, logistics centers, warehouses, industrial and agro-industrial enterprises, trade and service facilities, hotels, and tourism sites will be established.
The widespread use of local services and construction materials during the construction process is expected to create large orders and new production capacities for entrepreneurs.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that construction of the Khiva–Urgench highway has begun, an international tender for the Tashkent–Andijan road is nearing completion, and design work for the highway connecting Tashkent with Bustonliq is being finalized.
"Today, on the eve of the 35th anniversary of our Motherland's independence, we are laying another solid foundation for the future of our country, its economic stability, and the well-being of our people," said the President.
Afterward, the head of state placed a special capsule and launched the construction of the new motorway.
