Wildberries has started paying compensation to sellers affected by Ukrainian drone attacks. This was announced by the marketplace owner, Tatyana Kim.
According to her, sellers whose goods were damaged at a warehouse in Elektrostal, Moscow Region, can receive their transfers within 24 hours. The company plans to primarily support small and vulnerable entrepreneurs, who number over 88,000.
Additionally, Wildberries is developing a "sales simulator". Under this system, sellers will gradually receive funds for lost goods as if they had been sold normally from the warehouse.
For large sellers, the company is offering a credit scheme under special conditions.
However, just hours after the first payments were made, some sellers expressed dissatisfaction with the compensation amount. Entrepreneurs reported that Wildberries paid them significantly less than the value of the lost goods.
The company stated that payments would be made in several tranches.
According to a source at Wildberries, the first tranches amounted to approximately 10–15% of the revenue sellers could have earned by fully selling their damaged goods. It was noted that these payments are being made voluntarily by the company.
At the same time, Wildberries has not officially assumed liability for the damage caused by the drone attacks. On July 7, the company amended its offer terms, classifying drone attacks as force majeure events. This frees the company from the obligation to compensate for the value of the goods.
Billions of rubles worth of goods destroyed
According to estimates by industry publication experts, Wildberries warehouses in the Moscow and Tambov regions may have stored goods worth between 150 and 235 billion rubles.
As a result of the Ukrainian attacks, at least four of the company's logistics centers were damaged. On July 19, logistics centers in the Moscow and Tambov regions were attacked, and on July 22, warehouses in the Krasnodar and Stavropol regions were targeted.
The attacks resulted in nine deaths and several dozen injuries.
