In Uzbekistan, child benefits and material aid payments for some families may be suspended starting from August 2026. The National Social Protection Agency announced this.
According to the new procedure, families included in the "Poor family" category will receive child benefits or material aid for a period of 6 months from the date they are assigned, provided that the able-bodied members of the family are officially employed.
The 6-month period for payments assigned in February 2026 will end in August. Subsequently, whether the allowance continues or is suspended will be determined based on the employment status of family members.
If an able-bodied person has not officially worked during the last 6 months or has refused suitable work offered by Employment Services twice or more, the allowance payment will be suspended starting from August.
To retain payments, an able-bodied family member must officially find a job, register as a sole proprietor, or formalize themselves as a self-employed person and pay the social tax.
Additionally, the amount of the allowance may vary depending on family income. If the income is between 1 and 1.25 times the minimum consumer expenditure, 75 percent of the payment is made; if it is between 1.25 and 1.5 times, 50 percent is paid.
The National Social Protection Agency emphasizes that these payments are allocated with the aim of supporting families truly in need of assistance.
