The number of pensioners in Uzbekistan has exceeded 4.36 million. The largest number of pensioners in the country lives in the Fergana region.

According to the report of the Ministry of Economy and Finance on the results of the first half of 2026, as of July 1, the number of pensioners in the Pension Fund system amounted to 4,361,432. The average monthly pension amount reached 1,688,061 soums.

By region, the largest number of pensioners was recorded in the Fergana region — 515,377. Together with the Samarkand, Andijan, and Kashkadarya regions, these four areas account for 41 percent of all pensioners in the republic.

The fewest pensioners live in the Syrdarya region — 111,319. This is nearly 4.6 times less than the figure in the Fergana region.

The regions with the highest share of pensioners relative to the population are as follows:

Bukhara region — 12.9 percent;
Navoi region — 12.1 percent;
Fergana region — 11.9 percent;
Tashkent city — 11.9 percent.

The lowest rates were recorded in the Jizzakh (9.6 percent) and Surkhandarya (9.7 percent) regions.

Also, as of July 1, the share of recipients of disability pensions was 18.2 percent in the Navoi region, 17.7 percent in the Syrdarya region, and 15.3 percent in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

The report notes that the quality of service in the Pension Fund also improved in the first half of 2026. The number of appeals decreased by 39.2 percent, while the share of proactive pension assignments reached 54–87 percent.

However, the shortage of insurance funds has widened, and the system's dependence on state budget transfers persists.
