It was reported that the White House is currently discussing options such as further intensifying military actions against Iran, increasing pressure by imposing new economic sanctions on Tehran, as well as announcing that the US has achieved its goals and withdrawing from the conflict.
According to the publication, this issue was discussed in closed meetings with Donald Trump in recent weeks. They were attended by US Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine, the President's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and special envoy Steve Witkoff.
It is noted that despite the conflict lasting for five months, Washington has not fully achieved its main goals. In particular, it was emphasized that the US failed to implement its plan to change the political power in Iran through military pressure.
Let us recall that the next escalation between the US and Iran intensified after the US strikes on Iranian territory on July 8 of this year. Washington explained these attacks as a response to an attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.
On that day, Donald Trump announced that the ceasefire regime with Iran had lost its force. Soon after, Tehran struck US military facilities located in Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Jordan.
Although the parties stopped mutual attacks on July 24, according to The New York Times the White House has not yet made a final decision on the further direction of the conflict. According to the publication, all three scenarios are being considered in practice.
Earlier, there were reports that Donald Trump had temporarily postponed a plan to launch new large-scale strikes against Iran.
