Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan supported Kyrgyzstan's initiative to introduce a single tourist visa that would allow foreign tourists to travel across Central Asian countries.
This was announced by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov following the results of the informal consultative meeting of the leaders of Central Asian states and Azerbaijan, held in Cholpon-Ata.
According to Japarov, it is proposed to introduce a single tourist visa system in order to further increase the tourism potential in the region, create conveniences for tourists, and strengthen cooperation between countries.
He expressed hope that this initiative would be supported by all Central Asian states.
If a single tourist visa is introduced, foreign tourists will be able to travel to the countries of the region with one permit instead of obtaining a separate visa for each country.
The new system could serve to promote Central Asia as a single tourist destination, increase tourist flows, and boost interest in the region's historical and cultural sites.
