In Turkey, a person named B.K., who was accused of attempting to assassinate President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during the coup attempt on July 15, 2016, and was internationally wanted, has been apprehended. TRT Haber reported.

According to Turkey's Ministry of Interior, he was part of a 37-person group sent to the hotel where Erdoğan was staying in Marmaris during the coup attempt carried out by FETÖ. B.K. was a former captain and military helicopter pilot, later dismissed from service.

According to investigation data, he was the last member of the assassination group still at large. He was captured on August 1 during a special operation conducted in Afyonkarahisar.

According to the ministry's statement, B.K. was charged with attempting to assassinate the president, murdering a public official, violating the Military Criminal Code, and armed assault.
