In Uzbekistan, punishment measures for persons who have treated animals cruelly have been strengthened. This was announced by Saida Mirziyoyeva, head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

According to her, from June 28, 2026, legislative norms increasing liability for this type of offense have come into force.

Under the new procedure, the amount of administrative fines for persons who have treated animals cruelly has been doubled. Also, for such an offense, administrative arrest of up to 15 days may be applied.

Persons who repeatedly commit an offense in accordance with the procedure established by law may be held criminally liable and may even face imprisonment.

Saida Mirziyoyeva noted that such measures serve not only to punish offenders, but also to form feelings of kindness, responsibility, and respect for living creatures in society.

"Only if we all have an uncompromising attitude toward violence can security prevail in our society. Every creature created by Allah has its worth", — she said.

The head of the Presidential Administration also emphasized the great role of parents in developing in children a sense of kindness and compassion toward animals. According to her, it is necessary from childhood to explain to children that using force or presenting violence as superiority is wrong.
