Hayot Shamsutdinov, the head of the Information Service of the Prosecutor General's Office, reported this in response to a request from Darakchi.uz.
According to reports, the incident occurred on August 2 at a construction site located at house 3, Orzu neighborhood, Olmazor district.
Earlier, the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services had reported that the collapse of the trench occurred as a result of negligence committed by the contractor organization during excavation work.
Videos circulated on social media showed that during the incident, an electric cable was damaged, a fire broke out, and some workers were injured.
According to the Tashkent city administration, one citizen was injured as a result of the incident. The citizen was provided with timely medical assistance. Meanwhile, the Prosecutor General's Office reported that the injured person is currently being treated in a hospital.
During the pre-investigation check, signs of crimes provided for by Article 257 (violation of labor protection rules) and Article 192¹¹ (abuse of powers by officials in a non-state commercial organization or other non-state organization) of the Criminal Code were identified in the actions of officials of the LLC responsible for construction work.
In this regard, a criminal case has been initiated, and investigative actions are currently being carried out.
The Tashkent city administration stated that a legal assessment would be given to the actions of responsible officials, and persons who violated urban planning legislation and construction norms would be held accountable in accordance with the procedure established by law.
