Three of them were killed in explosions, and another was seriously injured in an armed attack. Meduza reported this.
According to the publication, the latest target was Alexander Chaiko, commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces. It is speculated that the explosion that occurred near the Balzi Rossi restaurant in Moscow on August 1 of this year may have been carried out against him. However, Russian officials have not yet provided detailed information about this incident.
Meduza notes that one of the most high-profile incidents in recent years was the death of Igor Kirillov, the head of the Russian Armed Forces' troops of radiation, chemical and biological protection. He was killed in December 2024 when an explosive device planted on a scooter detonated as he was leaving his home in Moscow. His assistant also died in the explosion.
Also, in April 2025, Yaroslav Moskalik, deputy head of the Main Operational Directorate of the Russian General Staff, was killed in Balashikha, Moscow Oblast, when an explosive device planted in a car was detonated.
According to the publication, in February of this year, an assassination attempt was also made against Vladimir Alekseev, deputy head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Russian General Staff. He is said to have been seriously wounded in an armed attack that occurred at the entrance of his home in Moscow.
In addition, Meduza has written that anonymous Telegram channels spread reports that an assassination attempt was also made against Major General Azatbek Omurbekov. However, this information has not been confirmed by official sources.
The publication notes that although Russian officials have said that investigative actions are being carried out regarding some incidents, no detailed information has been provided on most of the attacks.
According to Meduza's conclusion, since the start of the war with Ukraine, Russian military leaders have faced security threats not only in front-line areas but also inside the country.
