It was found that 11 Zarafshan spruce trees, about 100 years old, were illegally uprooted in the Sariosiyo district of Surkhandarya region. This was reported by the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change.
According to the report, the incident occurred on August 3 in an area belonging to the Uzun forestry enterprise located in the Sangardak neighborhood of Sariosiyo district. During the inspection, it was found that several trees had been uprooted and damaged.
According to the committee, the uprooting of the trees was carried out without any permit. Furthermore, the work continued despite warnings from responsible environmental control inspectors.
Currently, specialists are calculating the amount of environmental damage caused to nature. At the same time, a legal assessment is being given to the compliance of construction works carried out in this area with the requirements of environmental legislation.
The National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change announced that measures will be taken against the guilty persons in accordance with the procedure established by legislation based on the results of the investigation. It was stated that additional information will be announced to the public based on the results of the investigation.
