An armed person was detained near the golf club of US President Donald Trump in the state of California. BBC reported this.

According to reports, the incident occurred on August 2 on the eve of Donald Trump's visit to the area. Secret Service agents providing security put a man acting suspiciously under surveillance.

According to police, the suspect was walking around the golf club, taking photos and videos of the area, and watching the movements of security service personnel.

The detained person was identified as 38-year-old Janine John Tele. It was reported that he had previously been under investigation for a crime related to robbery.

During the search, ammunition was found near the suspect, and a loaded pistol was found in his car. In addition, several weapons, a bulletproof vest, and notebooks with writings assessed as “troubling” by law enforcement agencies were seized from his residence.

In recent years, several attempts to assassinate Donald Trump have been recorded.

In particular, in April this year, a shooting occurred at the Washington Hilton hotel in Washington during an event attended by Trump and representatives of his administration. Later, the suspect admitted that he had planned to assassinate government officials.

In June, the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced that it had foiled another assassination attempt that could have been carried out during a UFC tournament scheduled to be held at the White House.

Let us recall that on July 13, 2024, Donald Trump was wounded in the ear at a pre-election rally in Pennsylvania. As a result of the attack, one of the rally participants was killed, and two more people were injured. The attacker, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was shot dead at the scene by Secret Service personnel.

Two months later, on September 15, 2024, another assassination attempt occurred near a golf club owned by Trump in Florida. Secret Service personnel spotted Ryan Wesley Routh hiding in the bushes and opened fire on him. The 58-year-old suspect was detained when he tried to flee the scene in a car. At the scene, an AK-47 assault rifle with an aiming device, two backpacks, and a GoPro video camera were found. Subsequently, he was charged with preparing an assassination attempt.
