Russian troops launched a massive attack on Ukraine's capital Kyiv and the Kyiv region with ballistic missiles and drones overnight, on the night of August 5. According to preliminary data, at least 15 people were killed and nearly 50 people were injured as a result of the attack.
According to the head of the Kyiv regional military administration, Timur Tkachenko, 14 of the dead were recorded in the region. Among them, 9 died in Brovary district, 4 in Bucha district, and one more in Fastiv district. At least 22 people also received injuries of varying severity.
As a result of the attack, major destruction occurred in Bucha, Brovary, and Fastiv districts. In particular, warehouses and production buildings were damaged in Brovary district. Warehouse buildings were also damaged in Bucha and Fastiv districts.
According to the company “Ukrzaliznytsia,” there are also casualties among civilians who were on a railway platform near logistics centers that were targeted in the attack in the Kyiv region.
The attack was also carried out on the city of Kyiv itself. According to the mayor, Vitali Klitschko, one person was killed in the capital, and 26 more were injured. Of them, 16 were hospitalized, while four are in serious condition.
In addition, a private residential building and a warehouse were destroyed in Holosiiv district. According to preliminary data, people may be under the rubble. Furthermore, it was reported that ammonia leaked as a result of a strike on a non-residential area in that district.
