Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir ordered the confiscation of copies of the Holy Quran and clothes belonging to Palestinian prisoners held in the country's Negev prison. TRT Haber reported this.
It was reported that during his visit to Negev prison, the minister gave instructions to remove the clothes and copies of the Holy Quran used by the prisoners. Subsequently, the number of copies of the Holy Quran available to Palestinian prisoners in the facility was sharply reduced.
According to the Palestinian Prisoners Media Office, the condition of prisoners held in Negev prison remains dire. The statement stressed that the Israeli administration continues to impose restrictions on food and personal hygiene items against Palestinians as a punitive measure.
Also, the Commission for Prisoners and Released Persons Affairs under the Palestine Liberation Organization announced on August 2 that Palestinian prisoners held in Megiddo prison in northern Israel are facing hunger, medical neglect, and severe living conditions.
According to data from human rights organizations operating in Palestine and Israel, approximately 9,500 Palestinian prisoners, including women and children, are currently held in Israeli prisons. Human rights advocates note that they are being held in severe conditions, including hunger, torture, and inadequate medical care.
