According to a statement distributed by the CAF press service, the organization welcomes and fully supports the joint appeal of FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Secretary General Mattias Grafström.
It was reported that on August 5 this year, an extraordinary meeting was held in Rabat, the capital of Morocco, with the participation of FIFA leadership. At the meeting, Infantino apologized for mistakes made within the framework of a new commercial project and stated that FIFA leadership supports him.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe emphasized that the development of African football remains the organization's priority task.
"CAF welcomes and fully supports the joint statement of FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Secretary General Mattias Grafström. CAF continues to focus on the development of African football and once again reaffirms its commitment to the existing principles of governance and transparency," said Motsepe.
According to the statement, the CAF Executive Committee also unanimously supported Infantino. Additionally, gratitude was expressed to him for his many years of contribution to the development of African football.
Furthermore, the CAF leadership expressed special gratitude to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Secretary General Mattias Grafström, and the organization's administration for organizing the 2026 World Cup at a high level.
Recall that in July, FIFA announced a plan to raise $4.2 billion by selling approximately 20 percent of the shares of a newly established commercial entity to private investors. This entity was intended to manage FIFA's media and commercial rights, including commercial rights related to the World Cup.
Following this initiative, UEFA stated that member associations could boycott FIFA competitions until the proposal was completely withdrawn. Later, Gianni Infantino announced that the plan to sell certain commercial rights, which had caused widespread discussion, had been abandoned.
