The strongest tropical cyclone to reach the country in 2026 — Typhoon Dolphin — made landfall on the eastern coast of China. Due to strong winds and rain, transport in the east of the country was disrupted, and more than 1 million people were evacuated to safe areas. Zamon.uz reported this, citing foreign sources.

According to China's meteorological service, the typhoon made landfall near the city of Yuhuan in Zhejiang Province at around 17:30 on August 9. At that time, the wind speed at its center reached 42 meters per second, or 151 kilometers per hour.

Before reaching China, "Dolphin" passed through Okinawa Prefecture in Japan. There, six people were injured, and more than 50,000 buildings were left without electricity.

Meteorologists said that until August 10, heavy rainfall is expected in Zhejiang, Shanghai, and a number of other regions. In some places, rainfall amounts could reach up to 500 millimeters.

In Shanghai, more than 30,000 people were evacuated, and nearly 1,500 flights were canceled. Hundreds of ships in the city's ports were moved to safe places.

Experts are warning that the typhoon's slow movement could prolong heavy rainfall and increase the risk of flooding and landslides in mountainous areas.

Officials have called on residents to stay away from dangerous areas and follow the evacuation instructions of local authorities.
