In Uzbekistan, when purchasing cash foreign currency from banks in amounts up to 500 US dollars, it is not required to present a passport, ID card, or other identity document. The Ministry of Justice reported this.
The new procedure was established on the basis of decision No. 12/0473, adopted on May 8 of this year by the Central Bank Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor's Office, on the initiative of the Ministry of Justice.
This procedure came into force on August 9.
Previously, it was possible to purchase cash foreign currency from banks without an identity document in amounts up to 100 US dollars. Now this limit has been increased to 500 dollars.
The Ministry of Justice emphasized that this change is aimed at creating convenience for the population.
"The Ministry of Justice considers the implementation of initiatives aimed at creating relief for the population to be one of its most important tasks," the ministry's statement says.
