As a result of a drone attack on the city of Nizhnekamsk in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, 13 people were killed and 39 were injured. Mourning was declared in the region.
According to the head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, strikes were carried out on industrial and civilian facilities in the city of Nizhnekamsk on the morning of August 10. As a result of the attack, 13 people were killed and 39 were injured.
The mayor of Nizhnekamsk, Radmir Belyaev, said that there was also a child among the victims. According to him, the drones also struck areas close to residential buildings, in addition to industrial facilities.
After the attack, a fire and heavy smoke were observed in the industrial area of Nizhnekamsk. Some reports said that the area where large petrochemical enterprises are located in the city was also struck. However, officials did not provide full information about which facilities were damaged.
Mourning was declared in Tatarstan in memory of the deceased.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, 456 Ukrainian drones were shot down overnight into August 10 in the skies over 16 regions of the country and Russia-controlled Crimea.
In particular, the governor of the Rostov region, Yuri Slyusar, announced that over 70 drones were neutralized in the region. The head of the Kaluga region, Vladislav Shapsha, said that 16 drones were shot down.
According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, 18 drones flying toward the capital were neutralized.
In Russia-controlled Sevastopol, a fire broke out in the area of Inzhir Beach as a result of falling drone debris. Those at the campsite on the beach were evacuated.
Russian officials said the attacks were carried out by Ukrainian drones. The Ukrainian side, for its part, has not yet made an official statement on this attack.
