In Angor district of Surkhandarya region, a criminal case has been initiated against citizens who actively resisted traffic police officers performing their official duties and inflicted bodily injuries on them. This was reported by the press service of the regional traffic safety department.

The incident occurred on August 9.

According to reports, 39-year-old T.U. was driving a «Damas» when he saw traffic police officers on duty, changed his direction, and attempted to flee.

The traffic police officers pursued the car. When the driver got out of the car near his residence in the Ilgor neighborhood and tried to run away, the officers stopped him.

After that, it was determined that the driver smelled of alcohol, and an attempt was made to take him for a medical examination.

However, at that time, the driver's brother T.O., his wife N.N., another brother T.Z., and his neighbor M.M. arrived at the scene.

They actively resisted the internal affairs officers performing their official duties and inflicted bodily injuries on two traffic police officers.

In connection with the incident, representatives of the Angor district prosecutor's office and the operational-investigative group of the internal affairs department went to the scene and examined the situation.

On the same day, a criminal case was initiated against the citizens under Part 2 of Article 219 of the Criminal Code — resistance to a representative of authority or a person performing a civic duty.

Currently, investigative actions are being carried out regarding the situation.
