According to reports, a fire broke out over a large area after the helicopter crashed into a field. Several local fire and rescue units were dispatched to the scene.
According to Cliff Coleman, a representative of the Bell County Sheriff's Office, the county judge at the scene confirmed that two people on board the helicopter had been killed.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott also confirmed the incident, stating that the Apache helicopter crashed during operations at Fort Hood and that two servicemen were killed.
Fort Hood military base announced that the identities of the fallen soldiers would not be disclosed until their relatives have been notified.
