White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has announced she will leave her position at the end of August. She explained her decision with a desire to devote more time to her two young children.
Karoline Leavitt announced this on her social media page. According to her, the position of White House press secretary requires a great deal of time, energy, and attention. For this reason, she felt she could not devote adequate time to her children.
Leavitt gave birth to her second child — a daughter named Vivian — in May. She was on maternity leave for a while and then returned to her work at the White House. She also has a two-year-old son.
"When I returned to the White House after my daughter was born, I felt with all my heart that if I devoted the amount of time, energy, and attention that the press secretary position requires to my work, I could not be a proper mother to my two young children," Leavitt wrote.
She expressed gratitude to Trump for trusting her and giving her the opportunity to speak from the White House podium on his behalf.
Donald Trump also reacted to Leavitt's decision, praising her for her work at the White House. The President called her one of his most trusted assistants. Trump has not yet announced who will be appointed to the press secretary position.
Karoline Leavitt, 28, was appointed White House press secretary in January 2025, after Donald Trump's second presidential term began. She is the youngest person to hold this position.
Leavitt also worked as the press secretary of Trump's election campaign during the 2024 presidential election period.
It is expected that after leaving the press secretary position, she will continue working with Trump and become one of his outside advisers.
