Various messages have been spread on social networks regarding the procedure for teaching physical education in primary grades. The Ministry of Preschool and School Education issued an official statement regarding these messages.
According to the report, amendments were made to the regulation "On the procedure for completing classes and forming tariff lists in general education institutions" by the relevant joint decision of the Ministries of Preschool and School Education, Economy and Finance, and Health.
According to paragraph 15 of the regulation, when distributing teaching hours for subjects taught in primary grades, the teacher's possession of a primary education specialty or having received training in the methodology of teaching the relevant subject in primary grades is taken into account.
According to the ministry, this requirement was introduced in order to improve the quality of education and upbringing taking into account the age and psychological characteristics of primary school students, as well as to eliminate inconsistencies in the distribution of teaching hours.
It is noted that the process of perception of concepts and mastering subjects by children aged 7–10 differs from that of upper grade students. Therefore, teaching in primary grades, including physical education, requires a special methodological approach.
According to the new procedure, a teacher teaching in primary grades is required to have received relevant training in the methodology of teaching in these grades.
At the same time, physical education teachers who have received training in the methodology of teaching physical education in primary grades also have the right to teach in these grades.
