As a result of a helium cylinder explosion in a shopping mall in New Cairo, Egypt, 3 people were killed, and 17 others were injured. The incident occurred on August 13 at the Arabella Plaza shopping mall.

According to Egypt's Ministry of Health, the explosion took place in a helium cylinder at a gift shop located on the first floor of the shopping mall.

After the explosion, a small fire also broke out inside the shop. However, the fire was brought under control within a short time. In addition, the facades of some nearby shops were damaged as a result of the explosion and fire.

Immediately upon receiving the report of the incident, 8 ambulances were dispatched to the scene. Of the injured, 11 were taken to New Cairo Specialized Hospital, and another 6 were taken to nearby medical facilities.

The Ministry of Health stated that all victims are receiving emergency medical care and that their condition is under the supervision of doctors. A high state of readiness has also been introduced at hospitals near the incident.

For reference, New Cairo is one of the new cities located in the eastern part of Cairo, the capital of Egypt.
