In eastern Hungary, a bus carrying Polish tourists overturned, killing 12 people and injuring 37 others. Zamon.uz reported this, citing foreign sources.
The incident occurred on August 16 on the M3 motorway near the town of Mezőkeresztes. The bus, traveling from Serbia to Poland, carried 57 passengers and two drivers.
According to preliminary reports, the bus ran off the road, fell into a ditch, and overturned. Police said the driver may have fallen asleep. He was taken into custody.
Eleven people died at the scene, and one more person died at a hospital. Rescue workers pulled some passengers who were trapped inside the bus out through windows.
This was the deadliest road accident in Hungary since 2003. In 2003, a train collided with a bus carrying tourists in the town of Siófok, killing 33 people.
