According to reports, in July, air temperatures in most regions of the country were 1–4 degrees above normal. Record heat was observed not only in southern, but also in northern, eastern and central regions.
In Shymkent, during July 16–20, air temperatures rose to 41.3, 43.1, 45 and 45.2 degrees. The figures recorded on July 16 and 17 were higher than the record of 1915. The temperatures on July 19 and 20 also broke the records set in 2019.
Record heat was also recorded in the city of Almaty for several days. In particular, on July 16 it was +38 degrees, on July 17 +39.2 degrees, on July 18 +40 degrees, and on July 20 +41.5 degrees.
In Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, on July 14 the air temperature rose to +38.6 degrees, breaking the record from 1992.
In the city of Oskemen, +34.4 degrees was recorded on July 2 and +39.7 degrees on July 16. These figures were respectively higher than the records set in 1969.
In the cities of Kyzylorda and Turkistan, air temperatures also exceeded 45 degrees. On July 17, +45.2 degrees was observed in Kyzylorda, and on July 18, +47.6 degrees in Turkistan.
According to Kazhydromet, in July, precipitation amounts in some regions of the country were also several times higher than normal. Heavy rains were recorded in Zhambyl region, Karaganda region, West Kazakhstan region, Atyrau region and Kostanay region.
