According to him, Russia and Belarus may be preparing new attacks from Belarusian territory against Ukraine or one of the NATO member countries.
"We understand well what is being discussed between the leaders of Russia and Belarus. Recently, the Russians have intensified their activities. They are planning to further involve Belarus in the war and to launch additional aggressive operations from this territory against the Chernihiv–Kyiv direction or against one of the neighboring NATO countries," — Zelenskyy said.
The president said that he had instructed Ukraine's defense and security forces to prepare a response plan and strengthen the defense of the Chernihiv–Kyiv direction.
According to Zelenskyy, there are documents in Ukraine reflecting Russia's plans to strike Kyiv and other cities. They show political and military targets, including buildings on Bankova Street, as targets.
"Some in Moscow still do not understand that Ukrainians will never give up their independence. Regardless, we will not give up our land, sovereignty, and state," — he added.
Officials from Russia and Belarus have not yet commented on the Ukrainian president's statement.
Let us recall that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said in 2024 that the country must be ready for war. He noted that opportunities for resolving global conflicts through diplomatic means are decreasing. In 2025, it was reported that Russia's «Oreshnik» missile was put on combat duty in Belarus.
