During a working visit to the city of Baku, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

At the beginning of the conversation, the head of state congratulated the leader of Azerbaijan on the successful organization of the World Urbanization Forum.

The meeting discussed issues of implementing the agreements reached in previous high-level negotiations and further strengthening strategic partnership and allied relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

The parties noted that the volume of mutual trade has increased by more than 40 percent since the beginning of the year.

It was also noted that cooperation projects in the fields of construction, mining, energy, agriculture, and tourism are being successfully implemented.

The importance of accelerating projects, expanding joint investments, and actively attracting funds from the Joint Investment Company was emphasized.

The leaders also discussed prospects for cooperation on transport initiatives and the development of international transport corridors.

The meeting also reviewed the plan for upcoming high-level events.
