These days, the delegation headed by A. Mavlonov, the Chairman of the Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, is in the United States, conducting important meetings and negotiations aimed at strengthening cooperation in the customs field. This was reported by the committee's press service.

The main highlight of the visit – was a bilateral meeting between A. Mavlonov, the Chairman of the Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Troy Miller, the Commissioner of the U.S. Customs and Border Service, held in Washington.

It is emphasized that this face-to-face official meeting between the leaders of the customs services of both countries is being held for the first time in the 32 years since diplomatic relations were established between Uzbekistan and the US. Therefore, until now, there was no legal basis for mutual cooperation.

Therefore, the negotiations focused on pressing issues such as monitoring risks in customs, digitizing customs procedures, and effective use of human resources.

The historical significance of the meeting is that the leaders of the customs services of Uzbekistan and the U.S. have signed the important legal basis for cooperation in the customs field - the "Agreement on Cooperation and Mutual Assistance."

This document, opening a new chapter in bilateral relations, allows for the exchange of information in the customs field between Uzbekistan and the US and contributes to strengthening cooperation in combating the trade of narcotics, human trafficking, transnational criminal groups, laundering of criminal proceeds, and evasion of customs payments.

It is noteworthy that the US has signed such bilateral agreements on cooperation in the customs field with only 17 other countries worldwide, and Uzbekistan is being recorded as the 18th country.
