The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, participated in the international forum on the theme "The Interconnectivity of Eras and Civilizations - the Basis for Peace and Development" dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Turkmen poet and thinker Makhtumkuli Fragi in the city of Ashgabat on October 11 participated.
The event, chaired by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, was attended by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, the President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, the President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturian, heads of foreign parliaments and high-ranking representatives, leaders of international and regional organizations participated.
In his speech, our country's leader emphasized that the forum is a significant practical step towards strengthening the ties of brotherhood and solidarity between our peoples, bringing our countries closer together, and promoting our rich spiritual heritage to the world.
It was noted that the creative legacy of Makhtumkuli Fragi enriches not only Eastern classical poetry but also world literature.
The works of Makhtumkuli are highly valued in Uzbekistan. The poet studied at the Shergozikhan madrasah in the city of Khiva, learning secular and religious sciences. He deeply respected the great Uzbek poet and thinker Alisher Navoi.
This year, the 300th anniversary of the birth of Makhtumkuli Fragi is being widely celebrated in Uzbekistan. Conferences, seminars, literary evenings, contests, plays, and other events are being held. Uzbek and Turkmen filmmakers have jointly produced a feature film about the poet.
The leader of Uzbekistan supported the initiative of Turkmenistan to hold a global summit in the city of Ashgabat next year within the framework of the "International Year of Peace and Trust" proclaimed by the UN General Assembly.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed his gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for the meaningful speech and for the measures being taken in our country to perpetuate the memory of Makhtumkuli Fragi, announcing that our country's leader was awarded a medal on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the Turkmen poet and thinker.
