The winners of the 2024 Nobel Prize in Economics have been announced.
The award was given to Daron Acemoglu, Simon Johnson, and James Robinson for their research on “how institutions form and how they impact prosperity”.
The prize in economics, established by the Sweden's bank in 1968, concludes the Nobel Prize week. The awards are presented on December 10th, the anniversary of Alfred Nobel's death. The prize amount is — 11 million Swedish kronor, which is slightly more than 1 million US dollars according to the current exchange rate. In addition to the cash prize, the King of Sweden presents the laureates with medals and diplomas.
