Turkey has forgiven Kyrgyzstan's external debt to the country, said President Sadyr Japarov following the talks with Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Bishkek on November 5.

"I would like to express my special gratitude to Honourable President Erdoğan for the decision to write off the external debt of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Turkey," — he said.

According to Daiyrbek Orunbekov, the head of the press service of the President of Kyrgyzstan, clarified, the debt amounted to 58.8 million dollars and was written off in exchange for the implementation of "green economy" projects.

Erdoğan arrived in Kyrgyzstan on a state visit on November 4. He will participate in the summit of the Turkic States Organization to be held in Bishkek on November 6. Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will also attend the meeting.
