“On the measures for the development of water sports” Presidential decree (PQ-382-number, 04.11.2024) has been adopted. The Ministry of Justice reports about it.

According to the decision, water polo and synchronised swimming groups will be organized in training centers for Olympic and Paralympic sports types that have the necessary sports infrastructure

Special attention will be given to the further development of diving sports at Andijan and Qarshi training centers for Olympic and Paralympic sports types.

The Uzbekistan State University of Physical Education and Sports will establish departments of “Theory and Methodology of Water Sports Types” and “Rowing Sports Types Theory and Methodology”.

From 2025, the following sports competitions will be held annually:

  • the international tournament “Mermaid of Tashkent” in synchronized swimming in Tashkent city;
  • the international tournament “Silk Water” in swimming sports type in Samarkand region;
  • the mass sports festival “World Aquatics Day” held during the summer season in all regions of the republic;
  • championships of Uzbekistan in water sports types.

By June 1, 2025, a list of swimming pools to be given to a private investor based on public-private partnership terms will be formed.

From January 1, 2026, the activity of swimming pools that are transitioning to self-financing will be organized based on this decision.

Starting from 2026, swimming pools measuring 6x15 meters will be built experimentally in neighborhoods of Tashkent city and Syrdarya region.

The decision approves a targeted program for improving the infrastructure of water sports types within the framework of the program for the social and production infrastructure development of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2025–2027.

Furthermore, in 2025–2027, coaches of the national teams, as well as coaches engaged in water sports at training centers for Olympic and Paralympic sports types, will be sent on short-term internships to foreign countries.
