In the meeting dedicated to the agriculture sector held under the president, the necessity of collecting spring and autumn flood waters for irrigation was noted.
For example, from the streams passing through the neighborhoods of "Khonnazor", "Chorloq", "Qo'rg'on", "Shovona", and "Qiyqim" in the Qo'shrabot district, 36 million cubic meters of water flows away without being utilized every year.
If a small reservoir is constructed here, it would be possible to reclaim 2,500 hectares of land, allocate new lands for intensive vegetable farming to the population, employ 4,000 jobless, and lift 600 families out of poverty.
Floodwater reservoirs could be established in nine more districts in Kashkadarya, Namangan, Surkhandarya, Tashkent region, and Fergana, improving the water supply in 50,000 hectares.
On this occasion, the relevant authorities were instructed to commence the construction of 10 floodwater reservoirs.
