According to reports, this incident occurred near Gratiot Avenue and Conner Street on June 27. Witnesses said that a helicopter scattered thousands of dollars over people from the sky. On a hot day, this event brought unexpected joy to the citizens moving along the streets.

Anaya Toney, who works at the nearby Motor City Coney Island restaurant, personally witnessed the event. Upon realizing that money was being dropped, she saw people gathering on the street and cars coming to a halt. Toney said that all six lanes of traffic along Gratiot stopped for several minutes as drivers exited their vehicles in the middle of the road and ran towards the money.

The police arrived at the scene and closed off part of Gratiot for 30 minutes. The Detroit police have not yet issued an official comment on the incident.

It was noted that this money dropping was the last wish of a car wash owner. He had mentioned this as his last wish before passing away.

Although people gathered in the area where the money was dropped, the event passed off peacefully. There were no conflicts reported.
