The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, delivered a speech at the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit on November 11. The President's press service reported this.
The event, chaired by Saudi Arabia, was attended by state and government leaders of leading countries from the Middle East, Central and South Asia, and the African continent.
As per the agenda, issues related to the international community’s efforts to reduce the tension in Gaza and Lebanon and to quickly resolve the emerging situation through political means were discussed.
Our state leader expressed his special gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud of Saudi Arabia for organizing a summit dedicated to the most acute and painful issue on the global political agenda – the Palestinian problem.
It was regretfully noted that since the meeting in Riyadh in 2023, the scope of this war has further expanded, also encompassing the territory of Lebanon.
Our President fully supported all practical initiatives aimed at resolving the Palestinian-Israeli issue through peace and diplomacy.
Today's summit expressed confidence in the development and implementation of effective mechanisms and clear solutions at both the global and regional levels.
The need to immediately stop military actions, ensure safe humanitarian corridors, and start peace negotiations has been highlighted as a constant focus of the United Nations Organization and the Security Council.
It was emphasized that the ancient and historically rich Palestinian people are fully entitled to establish an independent and free state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
In this sense, the activity of the Global Alliance for the Two-State solution, initiated by Saudi Arabia, was supported.
Furthermore, it was proposed to expand the scope of assistance by leading countries and international organizations, including within the framework of the United Nations Special Agency, to prevent the humanitarian crisis in the territories of Palestine and Lebanon.
Our state leader emphasized his readiness to altruistically treat injured Palestinian children and women in Uzbek hospitals.
It was expressed that issues of practical assistance to the Palestinian people would also be discussed at next year's "Gulf Arab States - Central Asia" summit to be held in Samarkand.
Our president paid special attention to preserving the inviolability and intactness of the sacred Al-Aqsa Mosque, other unique historical-cultural landmarks in Jerusalem.
In conclusion, our state leader expressed hope that this meeting would be a significant step towards resolving the Middle East issue.
Following the discussions, the parties adopted a joint resolution confirming their commitment to rapidly seeking a political-diplomatic solution to the conflict.
