It was noted that until recent years, the Tashkent region, which has great economic and investment potential, did not have its own administrative center. In a short period of time, the city of Nurafshon was built anew, and a modern administrative, social and cultural infrastructure was formed here.
The city has built the "New Uzbekistan" and "Vatanparvar" parks, a memorial complex dedicated to the courageous Uzbek woman Zulfiya Zakirova, avenues, an artificial lake, an amphitheater and fountains, vast green areas, bicycle and pedestrian paths.
"Every enterprise, every street and building, square and avenue here is the result of our work together with the energetic, hardworking and dedicated people of the region", said the President.
As emphasized, today the city of Nurafshon is emerging as a symbol of New Uzbekistan. The name of the city means "radiating light", "spreading light". Therefore, Nurafshon should be an example to others with its modern appearance, development, culture, governance and attitude to human value.
Nurafshon is also going down in history as the first city being built on the basis of the "smart city" model in the country. Here, digital governance, intelligent transport, energy-saving technologies, cultural venues and ecological infrastructure are being integrated into a single system.
The head of state emphasized that the main goal is to turn Nurafshon into a city of science, high technologies and youth. In the city, a modern "Youth Town" is being built, which includes a 1,000-seat Palace of Culture, a regional branch of the Academy of Arts, an Artificial Intelligence Center, an Information Resource Library and a Career Center.
On that day, the foundation stone was laid for the construction of the Future Technologies Center, to be built on an area of 35 hectares. This complex will become a center for artificial intelligence and digitalization, and will house research centers and high-tech laboratories.
Within the framework of the "Nurafshon Business City" project, administrative, business, educational, medical, cultural and residential areas are being developed in harmony. In particular, the 700-bed multidisciplinary medical center is planned to provide more than 60 high-tech medical services using telemedicine and robotics.
The tourism and cultural complex, which includes the Oriental Bazaar, handicraft streets, national pavilions, an amphitheater and modern recreation areas, will also become the calling card of Nurafshon.
At the event, it was noted that the Tashkent region is one of the major backbone regions of the country's economy. Nearly 10 percent of the republic's gross domestic product comes from the region. Over the past five years, $16 billion in foreign investment has been attracted to the region. The number of enterprises with foreign capital has reached nearly 3,000, and the volume of exports has approached $3 billion.
The President also spoke about new projects to develop the region as a single economic and transport space with the city of Tashkent. It was decided to expand public transport routes connecting with the capital and to launch modern trains on the Tashkent – Nurafshon route.
"Together with you, dear activists of the Tashkent region, entrepreneurs and farmers, intellectuals, elders and energetic youth, we will further flourish this land and turn it into a strong and powerful pillar of our country's development.
I firmly believe in this and, as President and head of state, I will henceforth mobilize all my strength and capabilities, along with all our people, for the peaceful, prosperous and happy life of the population of the Tashkent region", said the head of state.

After that, the visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Nurafshon concluded, and the head of state returned to Tashkent.
