Rustam Mirzayevich Jorayev has been appointed to the position of Chairman of the State Security Service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He was also awarded the special rank of Lieutenant General. The relevant decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan has been signed.

According to information, Rustam Jorayev was born on July 26, 1968, in Tashkent. He studied at the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Jorayev previously served as the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He also served as the Head of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent — Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs from February 2018 to March 2020.

Since January 2025, he had been working as the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan — Head of the Department of Public Security.

Earlier, it was reported that Alisher Usmanov, who had been serving as the head of the Presidential State Security Service since December 2020, was relieved of his position.
