During the Uzbek Cultural Heritage Week happening in London, a delegation led by the director of the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan visited the BBC News Corporation.
The meeting was attended by the executive editor of the broadcasting company's world service, Mehfish Hussein, the commercial development officers Fred Durman and Tamara Walsh, the head of the BBC Uzbek service, Khayrullo Fayz, and others. Firdavs Abdulkhalikov informed the corporation representatives about the activities of the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, proposing collaboration on widely promoting humanitarian ideas of Islam, the activities and scientific heritage of great scholars emerging from Uzbek territory, including the production of short video clips and films together:
— Our collaboration with the BBC, one of the leading news platforms in the world with millions of audiences, deserves special attention, — said the director of the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan. — Notably, a few years ago, the documentary film “The Great Langar Quran: Secrets and Truths” filmed in collaboration with the BBC attracted considerable attention not only in Uzbekistan but worldwide. The documentary film “The Return of the Uthman Quran” created together with the Cinematography Agency turned out to be a unique result of this cooperation. We hope that our media project on the ancient manuscripts of the Holy Quran related to Uzbekistan, planned to be filmed by the initiative of the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, will be a logical continuation of this collaboration.
The meeting discussed engaging with the audience, especially the younger generation, creating content in formats that interest them, and protecting them from various harmful currents and alien ideas. The delegation members closely acquainted themselves with the activities of the BBC's Uzbek service.
