President Shavkat Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with the presentation on measures to ensure employment and reduce poverty based on new approaches. This was reported by the President's press service.
This year, it is planned to ensure employment for 5 million 200 thousand citizens and lift 1.5 million people out of poverty. For the first time, 60 districts and cities will be transformed into areas free from poverty and unemployment.
Together with Mahalla bankers, 1.5 million people will be permanently employed, and more than 2 million people will be involved in business. For this purpose, this year, a total of 120 trillion soums in loans will be allocated to small business projects.
New approaches to poverty reduction in 32 areas will be implemented based on advanced foreign experience. For example, solar power stations with a total capacity of 107 megawatts will be launched in 300 difficult neighborhoods. Members of poor families will be employed in them on a cooperative basis.
In 123 districts, the poor population will be involved in creating 20 thousand hectares of forests and orchards, as well as in growing medicinal plants. For every 100 trees planted, a subsidy of 375 thousand soums will be paid.
In places with tourism potential, guest houses and kitchens will be opened, as well as electronic commerce centers in certain post offices, with members of poor families being employed.
In general, this year, projects will be implemented in 6,472 neighborhoods based on new approaches, and 210,000 people will be lifted out of poverty.
Special attention will be paid to remote areas and villages in difficult categories. The Association of Mahallas in Uzbekistan will be responsible for bringing entrepreneurial spirit into these areas, reducing dependency, and supporting the labor of poor families.
The state leader emphasized once again that 2025 will be a decisive year in reducing unemployment and poverty, and gave instructions to organize the implementation of measures in an orderly and targeted manner.
The Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction has been tasked with strictly monitoring the execution of these tasks. Every project, every measure will be entered into an electronic platform, and the created jobs will be verified in the tax base.
It was emphasized that organizing training for local government employees and the “Mahalla Yettiliki” (Seven of Mahalla) and promoting good practices is of importance.
