On February 3, 2025, at 11:10 am, in the "Chilton" Mahalla of Olmazor district, a janitor born in 1979, Sh.M., died from being trapped while cleaning the lift windows at the “Riviera” shopping complex. This was reported to darakchi.uz by the press secretary of the Prosecutor General, Hayot Shamsutdinov.
While the woman was standing in the corner of the elevator shaft, the elevator doors closed, and the lift began to move upwards. The counterweights of the elevator, which drive its movement, moved downwards, towards the position where Sh.M. was standing, trapping her. As a result, the woman died.
It was found out that Sh.M. had been employed as a janitor in this complex since 2020.
Members of a rapid-response investigative team arrived at the scene. The scene was examined, video recordings depicting the incident were taken based on protocols, and a forensic medical examination was ordered regarding the death of the victim.
An initial investigation is being conducted regarding this incident, and a legal decision will be made based on its results.
