In recent times, some criminal groups have been attempting to use Uzbek citizens as intermediaries to illegally transport migrants across the sea to the European Union, mainly to Greece, promising them large cash rewards. The Istanbul Consulate General has issued a warning regarding this.

"Currently, citizens involved in such illegal activities are being held criminally responsible under Turkish law and are being deprived of their liberty for a long period," the report says.

The consequences of facilitating illegal migration:

Up to 10 years of deprivation of liberty;

Heavy fines and deportation;

Being deprived of the right to live and work permanently in Turkey;

Prohibitions on entering Turkey and the countries of Europe.

The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul strongly advises citizens not to believe in various illegal promises and recommendations.
