The EU has lifted sanctions related to Syria's energy and transport sectors and has freed the country's four banks from restrictions.

It is also reported that sanctions will be removed from the following five organizations: Industrial Bank, Popular Credit Bank, Saving Bank, Agricultural Cooperative Bank, and Syrian Arab Airlines.

The banks have been allowed to carry out transactions related to the energy and transport sectors and to establish relations with European financial institutions. Additionally, the Central Bank of Syria will be permitted to receive funds and economic resources.

Sanctions against Syria were imposed by the European Union during the regime of Bashar Assad and were lifted in December 2024.
