Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to collaborate with the US on mining rare earth metals in his country. He also mentioned the possibility of jointly producing aluminum. The Kremlin reported this.

"We could consider collaborating with American companies in this direction. For example, there were plans during the Soviet era to build a new hydroelectric power station and establish additional aluminum production plants in the Krasnoyarsk Territory," Putin said.

He emphasized that this project could have "investment potential."

"Based on preliminary calculations, it is estimated or could be estimated at approximately 15 billion dollars at today's prices. But we need to think about it," the Russian leader emphasized.

Speaking about rare earth metals in Russia, Putin said that the country is currently not doing enough to exploit them.

"Rare earth metals are a very important component for modern economy sectors, extremely important resources. We are currently not doing enough in this direction. We need to do more," he said.

Previously, US President Donald Trump had mentioned that Russia has resources in which Washington is interested, including rare metals.

According to Putin, Russia is ready to involve foreign partners, including the US, in mining underground metals. He emphasized that Russia has much more such elements compared to Ukraine. Additionally, Putin stated that Russia is ready to supply the US with two million tons of aluminum.

Russian President noted that such measures could "stabilize prices." According to the Russian politician, Washington and Moscow could launch joint projects on aluminum mining in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
