Turkey's National Intelligence Organization (MIT) captured Temir Dukanchi, one of the organizers of the bloody terrorist attack that took place in 2013 in the Reyhanli district of Hatay Province. Dukanchi was caught while trying to flee from Syria to Lebanon.
According to security sources, Dukanchi had been hiding in Syria and participated in smuggling explosives to Turkey via sea and arranging the vehicles for transporting them for the 2013 attack in Reyhanli, which claimed the lives of 53 people.
Reports indicate that Dukanchi gathered members of his terrorist network in Lebanon, planned attacks on Turkey's diplomatic missions abroad, and attempted to obtain fake passports for this purpose.
Dukanchi was listed under the "orange" category on the Turkish Ministry of Interior's list of persons sought for terrorism. He was captured during an operation at the Syria-Lebanon border and brought to Turkey.
Previously, MIT had captured Yusuf Nazik in 2018 and Muhammed Dib Koral in January 2025 during operations in Syria. Both were accused of being organizers of the Reyhanli attack.
On May 11, 2013, two separate bomb attacks in the Reyhanli district of Hatay Province killed 53 people and injured many citizens.
