Last month, the global death rate from the pandemic increased by 32 percent.

The current epidemic is escalating due to transboundary factors such as natural disasters, climate change, especially in regions affected by flooding, poor infrastructure, and restricted access to medical services.

According to a statement from the World Health Organization, from January 1 to February 23 of this year, nearly 70,500 cases of cholera have been recorded in 23 countries. Of the patients, 808 have died. This was reported by the Ministry of Health press service.

Although, by February, the rate of infections had decreased by 14 percent compared to the previous month, the death rate during this period had increased by 32 percent.

According to experts, the cause of this epidemic's peak includes transboundary factors such as natural disasters, climate change, especially in areas damaged by flooding, poor infrastructure, and limited access to medical services.

The WHO report notes an increase in the production rate of vaccines against cholera in February. However, this is still not sufficient to fully meet global needs.

Furthermore, the provision of clean drinking water, adherence to sanitation and hygiene rules remain the only long-term sustainable solution to stopping the cholera epidemic.

It is reminded that cholera is considered an extremely dangerous acute infectious disease, characterized by damage to the small intestine, intoxication, deterioration of the general condition, and dehydration of the organism.
